Cape Carnival -
Tips for joining this fun way to welcome the New Year

Celebrations and places to visit at New Year at Cape Town Carnival

The Kaapse Klopse is a party designed to welcome and celebrate the advent of a new year in Cape Town. Its roots are in the 19th century where slaves were still a common occurrence and this was the one day of the year they were free from their duties. The celebration has been carried out every year, although it is now known as the Cape carnival.
