The specific route may vary from year to year but it generally starts in District Six and winds its way through the central business districts, before reaching the waterfront and culminating at the Green Point Stadium.
The festival starts on New Years Eve, ready to welcome in the New Year. The carnival atmosphere; shows and celebrations continue until the middle of January. It is best to follow the procession round on foot; this will allow you to fully appreciate the atmosphere. Just don’t forget to pack your walking shoes, it is quite a trek!

The Roundhouse and Rumbullion restaurants
This year these two restaurants are creating an outside affair on the magnificent grass outside their properties. The theme is white; everything will be white and even the dress code is white! It is guaranteed to be elegant, sophisticated and chic. DJ Richard Marshall will be playing the best electronic tunes and the dance floor will be open to everyone. There will also be a chance to taste some fine cocktail dining.
The party at HQ Restaurant is set to be one of the events of the year. It is heavily influenced by James Bond and promises a night of sophistication, mysterious men, dancing and, of course, Cocktails shaken but not stirred. Your ticket includes your meal, drinks at the bar, a Cuban cigar and even a cocktail on arrival.
This is the trance party of the year! The party celebrates all kinds of electronic music and there will be a variety of the best music acts from across the globe to support the event. The party starts on the 30th December and lasts for four days, with constant music on four different stages.
Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa
This is another Bond themed party. Guests are invited to ‘dress to kill’. Tickets include entrance, a sumptuous dinner, live music and plenty of opportunities to dance. The obligatory French Champagne will be provided to welcome in 2016.
Dinner at the African Pride 15
This restaurant is in the Orange Hotel and oozes class and glamour. There is a five course dinner on offer which will include a host of delicacies; such as buttermilk espuma, beef fillet with onion cream and brown butter cake. This is the way to welcome in the New Year with style.
New Year at the Kirstenbosch Gardens
The famous gardens on the outskirts of Cape Town will be welcoming Jeremy loops and the funk band Grassy Spark. Everyone is welcome - just bring a picnic, picnic blanket and enjoy the laidback vibes.
Pacha Ibiza Party at the Grand Café & Beach Bar
This establishment is in the Granger Bay part of the town and has its own private waterfront. This is the setting for a touch of Spain, as the most popular nightclub in Spain lends some of its finest DJs to the occasion. The latest popular music from the Mediterranean will be playing all night.
Cape Town Comedy Club
For something a little different you can reserve a spot at the Comedy Club. There are five comics which should keep you in stitches for the duration of the event. It will not close until the early hours of the morning and although food is not included there is an a la carte menu available.
